At only 16 degrees south of the equator, Port Douglas has a tropical climate and typically only two seasons, The Wet and The Dry. The wet season, corresponding roughly with summer in more southern parts of Australia, lasts from December to about March. During the wet, spectacular storms blow in from the Coral Sea, humidity is high, and temperatures average around 32°C (89°F). In the dry season, from May to October, the days are clear and balmy, with temperatures peaking at 25°C (77°F.) Temperatures rarely drop much below 18°C (64°F) degrees on the coldest nights. The sea is pleasantly warm year-round, ranging from 23°C (73°F) in the coldest months to 28°C (83°F) in February. Individual air conditioning units in each room at Villa Empat Puluh Dua make staying comfortable at any time of the year, and the heated pool is warm enough to swim in right through the cooler months. |

Villa Empat Puluh Dua is the creation of Joseph and Vanessa Mahon who have spent years coaxing their vision of exclusivity, elegant luxury and attention to detail into reality. Inspired by the Amankila in Bali, Villa Empat Puluh Dua is imbued with a monumental, Asian feel which is also reflected in the name, Indonesian for number 42. Spilling in a series of levels down a steep hillside, the villa makes use of space with multiple timber decks and terraces that offer private, tranquil retreats for outdoor relaxation, as well as being an ideal platform for entertaining. The facilities and services available give Villa Empat Puluh Dua the feel of an exclusive mini resort where almost anything can be arranged, and complete seclusion is possible. |
